Phillips Foundation Approves $750,000 Grant to The Tipping Point Fund on Impact Investing

GREENSBORO, N.C. (August 26, 2020) – Phillips Foundation has approved a $750,000 grant to the Tipping Point Fund on Impact Investing (“TPF”), joining Blue Haven Initiative, Ford Foundation, MacArthur Foundation, Omidyar Network, Rockefeller Foundation and several other organizations as founding donors. The TPF is a first-of-its-kind donor collaborative with a mission to scale the field and practice of impact investing.

TPF will make strategic grants to support the creation and development of critical infrastructure for the impact investing market. The TPF officially launched in December 2019 and, with the addition of this Phillips Foundation grant, has secured more than $14.2 million in funding.

“Our Foundation has experienced in practice how impact investing is just smart investing,” said Elizabeth Carlock Phillips, Executive Director of Phillips Foundation. “We are honored to join this partnership in alignment with our goal of unleashing more capital for good.”

The first slate of grants on public policy was announced on July 8, 2020. The recipients are: B Lab, Center for Strategic & International Studies, Opportunity Finance Network, Pacific Community Ventures, PRI Association, Sorenson Impact Center, Stockbridge Advisors, and the Urban Institute.

“We are pleased to welcome Phillips Foundation as a founding partner of the Tipping Point Fund on Impact Investing and look forward to collaborating as we create a cohesive vision and strategy for scaling the impact investing space,” said Fran Seegull, Executive Director of the U.S. Impact Investing Alliance and Project Director of the TPF. “Phillips Foundation is part of a broadening coalition of funders driving more private capital towards solutions with the potential to address today’s most pressing global challenges.”
